The University of North Georgia (国产自拍) Music Department is set to host more than 20 events this fall.

"We have a variety of events occurring this fall ranging from performances by our music ensembles to student, faculty and guest artist recitals," Dr. Benjamin Schoening, professor and head of 国产自拍's Music Department, said. "There is usually a little something for everyone among the variety of programs we offer each year."

One of the biggest changes for the upcoming music events this fall has been the introduction of three new faculty members, which include Dr. Emily Hobson-Gallardo, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities; Dr. Yue Yin, assistant professor of voice; and Michael Brown, lecturer in trumpet.

With 25 musical concerts and performances occurring this fall, some notable events include:

  • Musical Theatre Workshop performances, Oct. 24-25, 7:30 p.m., Gloria R. Shott Performance Hall
  • Octubafest featuring guest artist Matt Hightower, Oct. 28-29, 7:30 p.m. both days, Gloria R. Shott Performance Hall, Dahlonega Campus.
  • The All-American Piano Celebration, Nov. 16, 4:00 p.m., Gloria R. Shott Performance Hall
  • Annual Holiday Choral Festival, Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m., Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville

Junior Atira Murawski will be participating in Octubafest for the fourth time this year. Pursuing a degree in instrumental music education, Murawski draws inspiration from the members of her musical household.

"One of my favorite parts about Octubafest is the guest artist that comes in for the week. They host several masterclasses where students can play for them and offer advice on any issues they may be facing. They also give a recital on one of the Octubafest nights, which is often inspiring for the music students," the Gainesville, Georgia, native said.

Sarah Ann Mallard, a senior pursuing a degree in music education with a choral education concentration, will participate in the annual Holiday Choral Festival.

Originally from Girard, Georgia, Mallard shared that this year's event will be her last with the 国产自拍 Singers.

"The Holiday Choral Festival is my favorite concert of the entire year. I am looking forward to a final, bittersweet semester in the 国产自拍 Singers, having a new director join us, and to being allowed to participate in one of 国产自拍's finest events," Mallard said. "The festival has so many moving parts with instrumentalists, soloists, the 国产自拍 Brass Quintet, the Gainesville Chorale, 国产自拍 Singers, Le Belle Voci, Singers Men, and so much more, that it works like a kaleidoscope."
