Investment club wins portfolio competition
Four University of North Georgia (国产自拍) students teamed up to earn first place in the Portfolio Building Competition at the Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium (SMIFC) Conference in the fall. Indiana State University's Scott College of Business hosted the event.
The team included Gustav Dickerhofe, chief financial officer of 国产自拍's Student Investment Club; Lucas McDonald, CEO; Campbell Richey, chief operating officer; and Georgia Tucker, chief marketing officer. Dr. Young Ha Ki, an assistant professor in the Mike Cottrell College of Business, serves as the club's faculty adviser.
Dickerhofe, a senior from Chicago, Illinois, pursuing degrees in finance and management, was grateful to be part of the team's success in his hometown.
"We are excited to build on this momentum and continue pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve," Dickherhofe said.
Tucker, a senior from Hartwell, Georgia, pursuing a degree in finance, said the club members are gaining valuable experiences both on campus and at competitions.
"Because our club is student-led, we're building great teamwork and leadership abilities," Tucker said.
Richey, a sophomore from Fayetteville, Georgia, pursuing degrees in accounting and finance, was excited to see the group's teamwork pay off.
Richey is part of the Building Outstanding Leadership Development (BOLD) Program, which seeks "to empower students to become exceptional leaders who inspire change, embody integrity and make a lasting impact on their communities and beyond." She is already feeling well-prepared for her career early in her time at 国产自拍, validating her decision to turn down 10 volleyball scholarship offers to study here.
"国产自拍 is a school where you can learn with hands-on activities," Richey said. "That’s why I came here."
Mental health grad assistant program starts
Two 国产自拍 students in the Master of Science in counseling program are serving as mental health graduate assistants for the Athletic Department, and one is serving in the same capacity for the 国产自拍.
Grads prepare to step into workforce
Students will earn more than 1,000 degrees and certificates this fall from 国产自拍, and the university will celebrate these milestones in the Dec. 9-10 commencement ceremonies in the Convocation Center at 国产自拍's Dahlonega Campus.
